Hatch Door Locking/Unlocking Problem

Recommended Posts

Hello Everyone,

I have a 2005 Outback LL Bean and the problem I'm having is my rear hatch door cannot be locked or unlocked from the Fob or on board controls. I took the rear panel off and was able to access the actuator which I took out. Applying 12vdc to it the actuator did not function. Can anyone tell me where I can find a new one. Have searched and can only find actuators for passenger doors.

Thank you

If you applied power and your actuator did not work ,then it may not be the wires as suggested ...  Currently on page 4 see my post on 2008 obw hatch not working and see the picture and part # of factory part that you may need.      post-56986-0-34362300-1424375423_thumb.j

I knew I also had a wiring issue that I did not post yesterday and I wasn't looking forward to hunting it down.I was getting voltage when I hit the unlock on the Fob but nothing on the lock side. Just as you said I found the problem in the Accordion boot on the right side. So using some additional 18Awg and some butt splices I was able to repair the cabling. Finally I took apart the actuator and freed up the wheel mechanism, used some super glue and scotch tape and reinstalled the unit. Amazingly she is working again.

Thanks nipper for the tech support.

Thank you for your reply. I had a wiring issue that I did not post before but I found that and repaired it. I decided to take apart the actuator and I managed to free up the main wheel and verified that the dc motor was good by applying 12vdc. Using some super glue and scotch tape I put the actuator back together and reinstalled the unit and it's working.

Thanks again for your post, if the unit locks up again I will use your info to order a new one.
