idosubaru
he's talking about modifying it, i doubt he's selling it...but i have a 1995 Legacy sedan Ej22 i'm looking to get rid of.... can't really modify it - it'll be almost entirely novelty. so the bad news is the there's no performance gains to be had, the good news is you can do whatever you want! exhaust - sure. intake - sure. lightweight crank pulley - sure. synthetic fluids - sure. lower weight wheels - sure. drill out holes in your bumper supports, discard unecessary weight - sure. you just won't see much improvement. if the torque converter isn't fully seated you'll crack the trans oil pump and need a new transmission. if the trans is a 1/2" from the block then something is in the way or not lined up correctly - the engine needs to be at an angle and lifted up some to line up. trans comes out at an angle and needs to go in at one as well. parts in the parts wanted forum here or www.car-part.com
montana tom
Find out why that engine is not seating ... BEFORE buying anything else. Something will break if you don't fix it ! Amazing they got the motor mounts to go in with it 1/2" back!
SedanLSi95
Well I was doing some reading about wrx swaping cause I was helping my buddy get his project from the junkyard today and sitting right beside a 240sx is what he bought..was a 02wrx they want $800..someone was putting a stereo in it and hit the yellow cable behind the dash and the airbags deployed....thats y it was junked...so I was just thinking if it would worth my time for $800 just for the doner car...I reckon it will take about $500 more to do the swap...and keep my 2.2 for a backup engine... montana tom
A 2002, 2.5 will have an 8 bolt bellhousing, yours is a 4 bolt , none of your upper parts will bolt on, as well as your trans not bolting up. It can be done but its more work than your thinking.

Fairtax4me
WRX= 2.0 turbo STI= 2.5 turbo If you have a whole car a swap isn't that bad, but you'll need to swap the whole dash harness to make the ECU work, mechanical parts will all bolt in just fine, it's the wiring that makes this kind of swap tricky, and very time consuming.
