ihscout54
Only if someone is silly enough to pay that. At this moment alot of people are hearing stories of these incredible sales on eBay. Asking prices are going up and up. The saddest part of this situation is some of these things are selling at asking price.
Subasaurus
their not suppose to sell this high, ive seen a brat for sale with a cyclops eye for 1,500 and then another that is in worser condition for 4,000. people are trying to sell them at collectors value, and its stupid, they shouldn't be over 3,000. i picked up a wagon for $200 and another one for $350 both running with minor issues but only because the wagon part is chopped off, its worth an additional 5grand. thats why i stay in the wagon section and not the pick up. Is the market that good in texas? Because the only old gen subarus I see here in Michigan are in my garage. There's a guy on the forum in my city but I don't think he drives it. skishop69
The are becoming collector cars. I saw a restored Gen1 go for over $10k on Ebay. That, however, is not the point. These particular people are on crack. At top price, given the issues it has and the overall condition, they'll be lucky to get $1500-$2000. Of course, Canadians do tend to drink a LOT of beer, so.... subarubrat
They have certainly hit their bottom value and are climbing, but still stupid cheap compared to most collector cars. Were talking 1/3 to 1/2 the price of a Toyota Camry, that isn't exactly 55 Chevy or 69 Camaro territory.
ihscout54
"dr sam beckett stepped into the quantum leap excellerator and vanished" Hopefully his next leap will be the one that keeps me from selling all of my EA81 crap I've sold for so cheap. Ive never paid more than 500 for any of my cars, and never sold any of them for more than 1000. Im shocked at some of the "deals" offered in the for sale section on this board. At work theres a group of trades dorks that are all buying old collector cars. Its the in thing with these pre-retirees. One of them has an 81 vette that cost him 10k, another just bought a Vanagon for like 12k. Oddly enough my brat makes them laugh. Anything old and unique is now a collector car to someone. I didnt give up on Scouts and IHs because of gas prices, it was the wacky skyrocketing values that ruined them for me. At least those were a little less dispose-ably built and parts availability sorta exists. Perhapse its time I give up on the EA81 cars as well. Ide like to make someone the deal of a lifetime. My 82 brat for $6700 with free shipping in the continental US.
jonas
Anything '70's, '80's Japanese is going up fast right now. Even those '70's & '80's Japanese motorcycles that you couldn't give away a few years ago are climbing fast.
Subasaurus
Is the market that good in texas? Because the only old gen subarus I see here in Michigan are in my garage. There's a guy on the forum in my city but I don't think he drives it. the only reason i got them that cheap is because they don't exist here and everyone here drives the most common vehicle (corrolla, accord, civic, f150) in the 2 years ive owned my wagon, ive still not seen another, had to travel 180miles to get my parts donor vehicle. awesome to have an old unique car but very bad when something breaks on it :/ Edited April 18, 2015 by Subasaurus

jozdad
People ask whatever they want, especially on ebay. This one isn't even a cyclops. It probably won't even go for the starting price of $3500. When the seller gets his head out of the clouds, it will be relisted.
Subasaurus
could i get someones opinion on those 4sealed headlights? i have the big beam (1985-1990) think their 9004 that came on GLs and 10's and early loyales, im still waiting at the junkyard for a pair to arrive to change mine out, i just find the DL's quad headlights really cool, someone tell me otherwise not to do it? has anyone swapped their headlights for the older basic version? sorry for getting off topic here but its a project im pretty much down for once the part arrives. also i do know i need the back bracket, parking lights and i think a decoration trim between the headlight and grill, just need someones opinion that owns the quads. 86BRATMAN
If that was in VA I'd spend $3500 for all of it right now.

Wagons not so much. You can't compare. Wagon will be near worthless eventually, brats will go up and up. Just the way it is I think the price is too high but if it's got an Aircraft spec engine it's not insane. And guys. As a community shouldn't we suppoort and commend people valuing our "collectables" at higher rates? I wild like to get more money for my restoration projects. Wouldn't you? Flowmastered87GL
It looks really clean, though it looks like they need to finish the engine bay clean up from the weber install. Nice that it comes with a GL-10 coupe... those are getting pretty rare and valuable too. I would not be surprised to see it go for the full $8000. machthree2
Depends on the region. Specs off the ebay add were kilo's. Maybe overseas. Here, I put a value on a rust free, dent free, with good interior (183k?) 3500- 4000 if motor is perfect. i'd upgrade to pwr steering, better brake master, rear disks, 5 speed, and 15's . Keep the original paint and decal, and start at 6500 - 7000. Upgraded and rust free adds to rarity. Why not This isn't a 4wheel beater example. Plenty of those around.
