Gpef2.5xt
Hey, new to this forum. A friend recommended I join (also a Subie freak). I have a 2006 outback xt and I keep getting cylinder 2 misfire code popping up when I beat the car up. If I'm driving normal it's ok. As soon as I get on it, check engine flashes and cruise control also flashes. At idle it trembles a bit also. I changed all 4 spark plugs (ngk iradium of course) and it's still doing it. Anybody have the same problem

1 Lucky Texan
definitely check spark plug tubes for oil.
Gpef2.5xt
154k miles. Changed the spark plugs and only cylinder 4 had slight oil. Cylinder 3 was the best one
Gpef2.5xt
It's cylinder 2 that's misfiring. Thinking of swapping coil packs to see if that's the problem
wtdash
Hi, Considering it's a high mileage Subaru turbo engine, you'll want to read up on NASIOC about the EJ255 (same as in the in '06-'14 WRX) and over on SubaruOutback.org. I'd recommend you get a compression and leak down test done, and if you're still on the original turbo, it's probably due for replacement. Make sure you check you oil EVERY time you fill up until you get this figure out or fixed. It could be burning oil but not blowing smoke. Gpef2.5xt
Thanx for the info. Me and my buddy will perform the compression test and leak down test. The turbo was replaced at 125k. I'll swap the coil packs to check them also
ccrinc
My money is on the injector. It's not uncommon for the o-rings to deteriorate on them. In normal conditions, it wouldn't be normal, but could very well be deficient under load. ps: If you want that engine to last, don't "beat up" on it. Be uber careful about oil changes and coolant too. It's a turbo, yes. But it's not a freaking race car.
