tweety
FUEL FILTERS This week, while my ea81 engine was dynoed the operator "Matt" had changedjets and cleaned the bowl out of the carbie. Then running the engine -on the graph there was a sudden drop of power. Checked the bowl for whatappeared a fuel blockage and there was a fine powder at the bottom ofthe bowl. So we changed the fuel filter from an EJ type to a clearplastic one suitable for carbies. All went well and today I cutopen the old EJ filter (this filter had been on the engine about 12months and 10,000 kms). This is the result. The white substance is like chalk but harder. The fuel tank is alloy. Fuel used has been 95 and 98 RON Electrolysis? Edited May 7, 2015 by tweety
skishop69
Possible, but unless you want to fork out for an analysis, you'll never know. Could've just been a bad batch of gas. It does happen.
tweety
Sent that pic to my Dyno operator. He said "it looks nasty...must have had water in the fuel a long time ago for it to get that way" !!!! Makes sense.
Loyale 2.7 Turbo
Yes, seems like Water / Condensation on your Fuel Tank. Maybe it is time to check it, its Ventilation & Connections... Kind Regards.
l75eya
I'm in the process of redoing my entire fuel system due to a rust hole in the filler pipe that allowed all sorts of crap to kick up in to the tank. I took the Weber off yesterday and pulled it apart and this is exactly what I found. Everywhere. It's awful. The twin neoprene floats were both cracked as well. I'll post pictures today after work though it's been sitting in jug of carb cleaner since yesterday. This sludgy calcium deposit crap is hard to clean out of everything man.
