twinnuke
Occasionally a loud bang and the car lurche's while the back end dips and seems to lock up. The sound is constant and there is no 4WD any longer. It's a clanking clicking noise coming from the rear end and is worse when taking turns (currently worse during left handers). We think it's the clutch pack. If so is there any way to remove them without replacing?
Fairtax4me
Sounds like a broken axle. Have you been out off-roading? Checked the rear diff fluid for chunks? Is it any different if you put the FWD fuse in? If you think its the clutch pack just remove the rear section of the driveshaft.
twinnuke
No Offroading. FWD fuse fixed it for a while until it just stopped working and never turned back on with a new fuse. If we remove the rear section do we have to plug anything?
idosubaru
The two piece driveshafts you can remove the rear half and the front half seals the transmission still.
1 Lucky Texan
are all the tires the same size? has the car had a transmission or rear diff swap?
twinnuke
Yes tires are same size. transmission and diff are original. Probably going to go with Grossgarys idea Edited May 11, 2015 by twinnuke
