alpop
Very annoying. Instead of the chime going off when the key is in the ignition and the driver door is open, it goes of when the key is NOT in the ignition and the door is open - the opposite of what its supposed to do. I did a search and found topics about the chime going off at random times, and the chime unit is buried behind the instrument cluster somewhere, and an easy fix is cutting the ground (black) wire coming from the ignition unit but this also allows the key to be removed from the ignition when in any position. My problem appears to be unique, any ideas?
brus brother
do the overhead lights go on and off as expected when the door is open or closed? related to door switch? i mashed mine up last year closing the door against the seat belt which broke the switch. alpop
Door switch is fine, works as expected. I also have this intermittent no start (slight buzz - no crank) issue which I thought I had fixed w/electrical connections but maybe not. I guess both issues could be related to the ignition switch? Fairtax4me
Somehow or other (I haven't taken one of these apart so don't know exactly) the key is what makes the ground connection for the beep thing. Cutting the black wire from the cylinder works but isn't a great idea IMO. I think somehow the lock cylinder has gotten damaged or is gunked up and the trigger that grounds the beeper isn't opening when the key is removed. It might be repairable if you feel like pulling the lock cylinder out and tinkering with it. The buzz thing is a common issue. Usually because the clutch switch isn't making complete contact. The starter interlock relay will flip on/off rapidly which causes the buzz. Shove the clutch pedal down harder when starting to prevent that. Or you can bypass the clutch switch and then you don't have to push the clutch to start. Just be mindful of that and make sure its out of gear when starting. NV Zeno
My Acura used to do that once in awhile. Try something simple first, like lubricating the lock cylinder. I used a graphite powder that's specifically for lubricating locks, available at the hardware store. Instructions on the package. Worked for me. Just my 2 bucks
