shoebee2
I got this lob for free so I can't complain to badly but there is no key fob so remote locks, start and security system are unavailable. Is a new key fob the only answer? What are me options for getting one? I was detailing the inside yesterday and noticed there is a 6 disc cd changer under the passenger seat. Score! How do you work it? Prolly need the key fob huh? Is there an online resource for users manuals? I'd hate to have to buy one. Is the security system worth messing around with to get it working? I don't have any experience with these at all. I can't imagine I would need one the way this car looks. Be one stupid thief to steal this car. But what the heck! Its there so I have to make it work or I'm going to loose sleep over it.
gbhrps
shoebee2, There are all kinds of eBayer vendors selling the keyfobs for all vehicles. With careful searching you can find one at the price that works for you, as well as one who will provide the programing needed with the fob. I've purchased two over the years that way, one for an 07 OBW and another for an 98 Forester. Both worked like a charm and came with the programming needed. Pull the CD changer out and get a manufacturer and model number off of it. Then do an online search for its owner's manual, and that'll tell you if there is a remote that you need. That too, can most likely be found on eBay for very few bucks used. I've done this several times with various vehicle electronics. Good Luck! wtdash
Hi, You need one of THESE - LINK...assuming it's the STOCK keyless system And there was a CD changer avl. in '98. It should be controlled by the stock deck in the console. And either go to a local Pull and Save (used auto parts), ebay or http://www.subaru.com/owners/index.html and create an account. You can't download the manual all @ once but can search it from the site....and download the parts you want/ each section.
