Cougar
The power to the pump needs to be checked out. It is most likely low due to a bad connection or faulty fuel pump relay.

Silent Bob
If there is fuel in the tank, and the pump is running but nothing coming out, pull the unit out of the tank and make sure the pump itself is still connected to the outlet tube. Also, some models (not sure if 96 is one) have a "pulse damper" on the fuel pump module. The cap can come loose causing the fuel to flow back into the tank instead of out the line. lstevens76
Where bad connection? Fuel pump relay.. I doubt. Why do you doubt the relay? I've seen weak, intermittent, relays that are not failed completely. A bad solder in the relay can wreak havoc without actually killing the fuel relay itself.
