Crossthread Ed
Hello L I'm a new member 3 weeks old. I have bought a 1987 GL dual range wagon carburated had been sitting 3 years and has had a rough life prior.286K miles. Manufactured date is 4/87 so it is the early half year for some major Soobie changes.I've pulled the motor did timing belts, HG's,a engine reseal and ground the valves. The Chilton manual has some mistakes regarding the distributer testing. I referenced Bumblebeast various post for bench testing the ignition modules and the test showed that IM are good.ALL of his posts are all excellent.Thank you Sir! Well she is running, idiling, starting and stopping. The main issue now is that the vacuum advance is NFG no good. I have sucked on the vacuum hose that is directly connected to it with my mouth and it does not move the advance plate. I can suck air through it and blow air through it. It must have a hole in the diaphram. My dissy is a Nippon Denso 22100AA370 100291-1820 WITH 4620 stamped ID tag.SOA no longer makes these distributers or the advance unit. I have the local autoparts dealers that can send mine out for rebuild to Cardone for $300.00. This is beyond my budget.I have called the local junk yards but they don't have any Soobies. I read another post here that stated one can change the dissy from ND to Hitachi and visa versa but the coils need to be changed to match the appropriate dissy. All I need is a good vacuum advance for my ND. Any one have any suggestions? Thanks

rdweninger
I have had 2 disty's rebuilt by Philbin in Portland, OR. Give them a call. I think I paid $120 for the last rebuild. New IM, new bushings, new vacuum advance. Mine were for 85 wagons. Yours may be the optical dizzy ... check on that.
