kenoterry
Anyone know for 1.8 turbo OHC 1990 EA82 motor if the valves will be damaged by a broken timing belt?

Guest taprackready
I've never heard of anybody complaining about bent/broken valves from EA82 timing belts breaking. I think they are non-interference engines. Bill
Marck
right, just replace the belts and your good to go. Both belts must be replaced and it is a good idea to replace the cam seals, front crank seal, oil pump seals or oil pump, and water pump. Check your tensioners and idlers. calebz
EA82 is non interference. No valve problems as a result of broken timing belts.
Kirk Yarina
Didn't on my 89 Loyale. Just got it fixed, after spending the winter under a snowbank, and my 16 yo daughter's driving it.
