OldNo16
2006 Outback XT w/ 109K miles Recently replaced power steering pump with a reman unit. The new pump came without what I understand to be a pressure switch that screws into the back of it. I moved the existing switch from the old pump to the new, and noticed that the SS nub on the inside was very loose, as in likely broken. I installed it anyway to plug the hole in the pump and make the car driveable. Called a local dealer to see if they had this switch in stock. Was surprised to hear "it's part of the pump, and is not sold separately." Any suggestions where to get a functioning replacement? New pumps are $500 and the much cheaper reman I bought came without the switch. Used is fine. Thanks.
desertsubaru
I may have one. Can you take a pic of the part you need so I can see if the one I have is the same?
OldNo16
I have a picture, but can't get the image thing to work. When I click the little image icon a small window opens called Image Properties. I can paste the photo's URL, but after that nothing works. Clicking OK, Cancel, or the "x" all do nothing, and I have to force the whole window to close.
1 Lucky Texan
make sure the system isn't sucking in air - probably easy fix if so.check in the reservoir while idling;
OldNo16
Thanks for the reminder. I learned the hard way that once the O ring on the pump suction is disturbed it has to be replaced.
