TOONGA
The best way is to do research on the vin number which is on the compliance plate ( a few different locations depending on the country) and on the fire wall under the bonnet. Obviously the car would be right hand drive as well. Not LHD like the USA delivered cars. Another indicator Is that the compliance plate is written completely in Japanese. (not always JDM) The interior options are different and the headlights and tail lights are different as well. Having said all that I've seen ADM cars with JDM specs so it can be confusing and yes I know you are in New Zealand. a bit of a read on JDM imprezas http://www.subarujdm.com/jdm_impreza.htm TOONGA
KiwiGL
If it's JDM, the speedo will end at 180kph, NZDM at 220 or 240 kph. Easy way to tell. Also if it's not registered in the year it was made is a clue too.
KiwiGL
If it's an SF turbo, it'll almost certainly be JDM.
