Hi New to the forum, am a serious Subaru nut

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I just joined, live in NSW Australia

started out my Subaru love with a Subaru GSR and now have a bunch of Subaru SVX's and spare motors.  Also own a old Subaru DL (very rusty).

Just purchased a FJ1600 Subaru open wheeler which has a version of the EA71 engine in it.  Also let my head go and brought 2 Subaru F1 flat 12 engines, expect to see them in Australia mid this month.  They are 1235 engines.

I am also building a clubman with a mid engine EG33 and 6 speed.

Here are a couple of photos the ones of the 12 cylinder are when they were in the workshop in Sweden.

Welcome!

Besides two Formula one teams, The Motori Moderne-Subaru 1235 flat twelve

was used on a Sweden production car, the Köenigsegg, on their earlier models:

That's the reason why they are found in Sweden, but that engine

was also used on the Subaru Caspita Super Car from the 1980's.

And your Open twin-carb EA71 (1600) is named: Subaru Manatee.

Much more information and Photos on the Legendary:

"Strange & Weird Subaru Stuff" Thread.

Kind Regards.

I saw a photo of a 1235 engine in the Koenigsegg factory but I have never found any info on it being in any of there cars.  I had figured they were just doing testing with it.  Could find details of them using the engine in any of there cars so I will need to do more searching.

Thanks for the info.

I also have a interesting car, its a Subaru SVX that has been highly moded, has a Subaru STI 6 speed with DCCD instead of the standard auto.  Rally struts all round for more strength and to raise the car.  Its also fitted with larger diameter tires to give more ground clearance.  The car as in chassis etc now has 700,000 k on it.  I use the car to drive in outback Australia so it spend most of its time on dirt roads at high speed.  Its been a good car, in a recent trip we went to the top part of Australia, Cape York.   Here is a face book page from a store we stopped at.
