LD111
I see bits and pieces on other posts but can't find exactly what I need. I had my cylinder heads rebuild at the machine shop. I need a timing kit (looks like gates is the consensus here), rings and bearings, head gaskets (I can get wholesale price on Fel-pro at Napa), and a complete engine gasket set. The machine shop is quoting $600.00 and it's mostly JDM parts. There are so many cheap sets on Ebay that I don't know where to buy. Are Cometic any good. I have read yes and no. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I am looking for stock performance with good reliability.
Rooster2
I bought my T belt kit on ebay several years back. I have had no issues with the T belt, water pump, idlers, and seals. I have never read on this forum of anyone complaining about the quality of ebay sourced T belt kits, and I have been o this forum for years. lstevens76
Evergreen or mitzumo for the timing stuff. A full OEM gasket kit is available on Amazon for $230 or so. By the time you buy OEM head gaskets + a kit you'll be up around $180 anyways. ACL race bearings run around $100 for a complete set. Get the .01 oversized for better oil flow. For rings I would check OEM pricing personally.
ccrinc
You don't say what engine you have, but ACL Race Bearings are pretty much unobtainium, countrywide. We've gone to King Race bearings: better quality, similar pricing. (DO NOT use the blue-boxed non-race ACL bearings!! They are outsourced to China now and are absolute garbage.) Rings: OEM is NPR. lstevens76
Yeah, he didn't and that is a good question since I was basing on an EJ22 or EJ25. And the EJ25 And EJ20 bearings are still available on Amazon (race) but supplies appear to be dwindling fast so King may he a better option. Supplies dwindling tends to not he a good sign no matter how good the product is.
