Loyale 2.7 Turbo
Loose Axle in one of the Wheels? However the Noise is not common, it might be something to do with the Linkage... Are you sure that it is completely onto first gear? ... Does make same noise in Neutral? Kind Regards. l75eya
I agree that it seems like a linkage issue. Perhaps you bent the shifter linkage and it is not properly engaging gears. I do know that if you leave the 4wd in between high and lo that it'll act like it's in neutral.Do yourself a favor and climb underneath, unbolt all the linkage and operate the mechanism for the gear shift by hand. See if it still acts the same like that. Same with the 4wd linkage. That'll help you narrow it down;If you do it by hand and it's still all the same you know you have some type of internal problem.
angerthis
Yeah now the transmission is already out it's got to be internally cuz I can have somebody hold the axle stubs and I try to spin the input shaft still does the same thing but before I pulled the engine and transmission out with the car running in neutral I let out the clutch it made the same noise at first I thought it was the clutch disc now I know its not but when I would put the transfer case in 4 wheel drive and leave the transmission in neutral clutch out the noise would go away I jack the front end of the car up transmission in first gear transfer case in front wheel drive I would let out the clutch like I wear to drive the front tires would spin but I give it a little bit of gas instantly you would start to hear that grinding clicking sound I hope you all understand my no punctuation explanation LOL
turbosubarubrat
Did you drain it yet to find bits and pieces of gears yet? I have one of the 3.7's d/rs that i would sell for $200 has 158k on it. I got the car after it had been run on the beach with holes drilled in the air cleaner; the ea82t had 30 pounds of compression in each cylinder... Loyale 2.7 Turbo
Right after you drain the Gear oil from the Transmission, I kindly suggest you to check the Drain Plug bolt, because it is Magnetic and it usually held metal debris there, to avoid further damage of the internals, in case of grinding gears... Let us know the Results. Kind Regards.
angerthis
Yeah I did drain the gear oil It was the first thing I done sorry I did not mention that. the plug had the usual metal shavings on it nothing out of the ordinary and no big chunks came out of it either. I took a flashlight and peaked up inside the transmission with the tires off the ground spun the third member looking thing that is in side. none of those gears looked broken or damaged at all is there a possibility that I just broke the main shaft or something like that I'm not sure of all the internal pieces and parts inside those things. But on the plus side today I was able to drive my car I put my spare 3.9 transmission in it another than the bent strut the car drove perfectly I have not yet change the gears in the rear end yet hopefully I can get that done tomorrow as well as the struts first so I can at least drive my car to wcss
l75eya
If it's a part time 3.9 just don't use the 4wd, but even if you do use 4wd on lose surfaces like mud or snow, your not going to break anything, your rear end is just going to be much easier to slide around. I did 3.7 trans and 3.9 rear diff in 4wd Hi and lo all last winter.
angerthis
Yeah I did notice that I was out in the field yesterday after I got my 3.9 transmission working the car did awesome donuts before tell you what it was even more fun. today I'm going to a little mom and pops Auto Wrecking they've got an 86 GL wagon that's got my adjustable coilover struts for the front that are like what's on my car so at least I will have the suspension done. so if all goes well I will be at WCSS And once I do get a decent schematics of the teardown of the transmission I will break it down and see what I actually broke and I'll let you all know soon as I do. Thanks all for any input
l75eya
Yeah I wouldn't go too crazy on dirt, still a good bit of traction there. Snow is harmless. No traction, no stress. Traction, stress, possibility of breakage.
