Advice on Hitachi to Weber conversion

Recommended Posts

I have a '79 DL and am considering buying a Weber carb since my wagon has so little power.  I haven't looked at the current condition of my Hitachi yet, but from what I've read, this would be a simple way to improve the acceleration and overall running of the car.  Thoughts? recommendations? conversion kits needed? Any tutorials on the board already existing?

Thanks everyone.

Wes

Get the DGEV with the adaptor plate.

Primary Idol 60

secondary Idol 55

140 - 140 mains / air bleed

timing 8-10 degrees

Yup, just get the kit and hook it all up.

If you want bonus points, hook it up so that all of the breather lines go back to where they were with the stock carb (but using the weber).

... Any tutorials posted on the boards?

I wrote one, but it is focused on the EA82 engine,

however, many of that ideas may be applicable for the EA71,

so you might find useful information on it, which is here:
