thespackinator
Hey guys. I'm new to subaru and this site. I have a problem with my wife's 97 legacy l outback wagon. From time to time when we go to start it it wont turn over. When the key is turned it will just click. If i just mess with the key and try it a few times it will eventually catch and start. We originally thought it was the battery so we replaced that but it keeps happening. The battery terminals are clean.
nipper
Starter solenoid contacts. A common thing to go bad, they are serviceable. Don't replace your starter, just the contacts as the starter itself rarely goes bad

It is something I would like to learn, and remember, and be helpful to know, when my starter goes bad.
