P J Mac88
Hi all. I want to introduce myself and tell you what I'm up to. I'm a gear head from way back and a tool and die maker by trade. I enjoy playing around with cars of all types but seam to migrate toward little British stuff (old British stuff). Over the last couple of years I have become impressed with the rugged nature of Subaru designs. Mostly towards my purpose of swapping some parts into my little British cars. I am hoping to gain some knowledge about certain parts which I need and perhaps find a source for those parts. I don't own a single Subaru but hopefully you wont hold that against me. ferox
Welcome Pat. What kind of parts are you looking for? This is a site for builders, so no one is going to give you a hard time. Personally, I've been wanting to swap Subaru gear under a VW Scirocco, Volvo, and/or Toyota Starlet for years. I don't have much use for 2WD vehicles, but there are some cool ones out there, so making them AWD or 4WD may happen for me in the future.
P J Mac88
Hi. I'm wanting to replace the original differential with an LSD and very probably use the entire Subie rear end including axles and bearing hubs as well as coil over rear shocks and disk brakes. I definitely need a differential, either 3.55 or 3.7 LSD. I was told it could come from 02-05 WRX Imprezza. As for the other parts I'm not sure what hubs and brakes are best. Hoping for some guidance . Also was wondering if the viscous LSD is the only choice or is there a mechanical unit that would work?? Thanks for the welcome. P J Mac88
Hi. I'm working on a 72 Triumph GT6 MK 3. It has a fully independent rear suspension with a very weak differential and rubber doughnuts between the axle shafts which they like to call Rotoflex couplings. I need to replace those pieces with a hardy LSD differential and modern cv axles and brakes. Pat
