Alex C
I installed the conversion kit, went fairly well, except, how much should I put in? Its only kinda cool now and Im sorta wondering if I put too much in (higher pressure preventing proper evaporation, but just my theory). I have the 82GL. GeneralDisorder
You are supposed to use less of 134a than 12. When I have done it, I have filled them in small amounts till it got cold.... GD
Alex C
OK, but how much total? I know its supposed to be less. I used the napa kit, and ~ one bottle of the r-134a. If you had a rough guess how many ounces did you use?
beachbum
ok no mechanic here but down here the 134 cans say NEVER put more than 3 in,so i hope that helps u a little.
Alex C
lol, Im only at one and a half, considering the whole system takes 21 ounces of r-12?
rallyruss
its only a slight difference in charge between the R12 and 134a most people dont evin worry about the slight difference. I assume you changed the reciver dryer and evacuated the system like I recomended? if so you should be close. what size cans are you using? still no gauges? thats the other good way to guestimate how much to charge. add untill the pressures are in the correct range for the conditions. oh and dont forget the fan. no fan = crappy A/C

GeneralDisorder
Jeez - I really couldn't tell you, and it wasn't on a Subaru, so it probably wouldn't do you any good. Was an older Ford, and it took a little over 2 cans.... Just trying to be helpful with my technique.... GD
