warfride
I've got a 1984 leone GLF sedan, and I want a station wagon. I thought I could get the roof, rear gate and rear seats out of a wrecked wagon and put them on my car. But, in my owners manual it shows small differences in the dimensions of the wagons and sedans. Like the wagon is 20cm longer, and has a slightly smaller wheelbase. Does anybody think the panels will just fit on, or are there more fundamental differences? Are the differences in size just a result of flashings or something? And just out of curiosity. What is the difference between the GL and the GLF models? Will Smith
replacing panels is lots of work. You could instead do what is know as a "top and tail". Which is cut the body in the middle of the windshield posts and across the floorboard under the drivers seat. Remove the back half of the car and replace it with the back half of the wagon which was cut in the same place. A little welding and some other finish work and you have an wagon with much less work. WoodsWagon
Why not just buy a wagon? Seems easier.
Partsman
I agree - unless you're itching to weld. Get a good bodied wagon with engine problems and transplant your sedan's engine and you'll be much happier.
baccaruda
it sounds dangerous to me. the amount of work it would take to do it right (right = safe to drive on public roads) far outweighs the effort it would take to get a wagon that started as a wagon.
