Paint sources?

Featured Replies

I'm looking for paint for my 87 GL.   Number on a tag under the hood is 685.  Anyone know of good places to order?  Brands are good or bad?

Anyplace that can put it in rattle cans,  as I do not have a spray setup?

Wesco had no trouble with 685 for me a couple years ago. They also made Subaru "Lightning Silver" in rattle cans for me and it was a good match.  These guys seem to know there stuff.

Any machine shop or paint supplier that sells automotive paints should have books with the codes and recipes that go back to the 30's. Most of them fill rattle cans as well. But it would likely cost you less to order a cheapo spray gun and separator to paint a whole car. The cans arent cheap. I dont know if you have anything like that in you neck of tte woods tho. I live in a pretty small town, and we have one.

There's plenty of sources of pretty much anything around here. Not painting the entire car. A few touch ups here and there. A fender. If I go the route of buying a real setup, I'd end up getting a quality setup. I've used a few cheap tools, won't buy them.
