Boy named sue
So, I am looking for a reasonably resourceful way to lift my ride. Does anyone out there know about swapping my struts and springs for an Outback or Forester. Whichever one is taller?
AdventureSubaru
I've done this swap. It's well documented on here if you do some searches. There's a sticky in the off road section for lifting Imprezas. All the same is true for legacys but the trailing arm brackets are much more optional and the rear tophats are often a match. What are you lifting?
rabbidrabbit
My 97 Legacy on 99 Outback Wagon springs/struts. Wish I would have done the 1" rear sub frame while I was at it and the 1" trailing arm lift. It is sitting on 225/60/16 Forester rims/tires. The spring/strut was a tight fit and you will have to disconnect the front and rear sway bars, you can reconnect them once it is back on the ground if you want. I left my disconnected.
Boy named sue
I am lifting a 97 Legacy Outback. I will do some searching but ill ask anyway. Are both Forester and Outback struts and springs compatible. And do you know the years that match.
Boy named sue
So, I checked out the thread for lifting the Impreza and the Forester springs and struts are taller. Now, I just need to know the years that are compatible with my ride and I am good to go.
AdventureSubaru
You'll want 2004-2008 Forester struts and springs to get any noticeable difference. Add strut top spacers for a little extra. Outback setup is just a little shorter than forester. Adding king springs to your existing setup will give you about an inch which would probably be comparable to what the forester swap would. Next step would be body lift of 2-4 inches.
