weslito2
I'm a novice, so bear with me. I changed the battery recently on my EA71. I noticed that the lights and the heat get stronger when I press the gas. Is this a voltage regulator issue or an alternator issue? Thanks in advance. john in KY
Sounds normal to me. At idle the lights/heater motor get just 12 volts off the battery. Race the engine and the alternator kicks in and now around 14V flows to the lights.
weslito2
Thank you. Is there anything that can be done to keep it more consistent?
hatchsub
What are you idling at? If your idling at 750 or so kick it up to 800 or 850 with the idle adjust screw on the carb. See if that helps. Might also want to clean all your grounds and electrical contacts under the hood to make sure your getting all your voltage.
weslito2
I'm not sure what the idle is now. I didn't intend to screw with the carb since I will be replacing with a Weber this month.
