lionsanddawgs Posted November 27, 2015 Share Posted November 27, 2015 1999 Legacy Wagon steering is jerky when turning, even at complete stop. First noticed at low parking lot speeds and tight turns, but now starting to notice occasionally at higher speeds. Power steering fluid level OK. Hoping it's not my steering gear. Fairtax4me Posted November 28, 2015 Share Posted November 28, 2015 My first guess would be a loose belt, but if it has the same issue at speed there could be something going on with the pump. Is the fluid dirty or old? Has it been changed since you've owned the car? Make sure the belt is tight and in good shape. 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Last ditch try is the universal joint in the steering shaft.
