fire93medic
I have a 2013 Impreza that I bought new just about 3 years ago. Last winter the remote starter stopped working and I haven't given it much thought until now that the cold weather is back. This was the OEM unit installed prior to us even looking at the car new. I tried doing some troubleshooting today. I checked both fuses and they were ok, unplugged the module waited and plugged it back in, and still nothing. When I press the FOB button twice it flashes back two long flashes indicating it is too far away, even though I am in or near the car. I do not hear any clicks and no lights turn on in the car. Could the antenna be faulty? I check the plug on either end and it seems fine. I hate to put too much money into this remote starter if it cannot be repaired, I would rather just buy a new aftermarket one, but this is an easy fix I do not mind going this route. I tried reprograming the remotes and they did not respond, telling me the car is not getting a signal at all. Any help appreciated! Andrew
Fairtax4me
Did you replace the batteries in the remote?
fire93medic
The batteries are original in both remotes. The lights still come on strong in the remote when you press the button.
Fairtax4me
Does the remote start have a separate fob? Or is the remote start and lock/unlock all done from the same fob?
fire93medic
It has a separate FOB. The functions on the regular Key controls work fine
Fairtax4me
Try replacing the battery in the remote start fob. Those little indicator LEDs don't take as much juice to run as the transmitter part. Try re-programming again after replacing the battery.
