75skunkaroo
well, it's time to re-change the oil:-\ , i've never seen something take so long to fill the radiator, thought 'hmmm, this is strange' checked the oil and sure 'nuff it was almost half way up the stick:banghead: . hopefully it is only the head gaskets, and i'm glad i just ordered some. so.... time to pull the engine and check it out. -mike
NoahDL88
So i guess i've just never seen a EA-63, but does the exhaust come out of the back of the head? cause thats weird and neat all at the same time.
richierich
I parted out a 75 2dr Sedan about 10 years ago. Have some body parts, and grille and bumpers and stuff.
75skunkaroo
the ea-63 is pert much a water cooled v-dub engine. the exhaust comes out the front and back of each head. so... 2 headers, merge under car, single exhaust out the rear. really neat. i'll get some under-side pics when the camera gets back. richie, where are you in oregon? pm/e-mail me about some details -mike
Caboobaroo
DUUUUDE its lookin VERY nice. We should so do a get together when I get the wagon goin again which will hopfully be soon. Anyways, how long have you been workin on it so far? The amount of work that you've done on it its so much compared to what I've done on my wagon in the past few months. Oh BTW, Richirich is in Portland. If ya need anything, I usually go to Portlan on a regular basis and I could pick up anything for you:D
moosens
Note:THe revised 1400 at the end of the run had the familiar exhaust we know and love today. Those "C" pipes have got to be tough to come by.I know here you don't need emissions testing for cars that old so you could do whatever you wanted below the noise ordinance. 75skunkaroo
hhmmm....portland, thats where my camera is:rolleyes: . anyways, i've had the car for 2 or 3 weeks, which is about i'll say about 70 hours i been working on it. i pulled the valve covers after draining the h2o/oil, and found in each cover something resembling a small freeze plug, which i figure is prolly why the car got parked. i'll pop those back in and see if that fixes the prob*cross fingers*. -mike
Caboobaroo
Yeah my old EA81 hatchback that was sitting in a field for like 8 years had the same problem. The freeze plugs had popped out of one of the heads. I replaced them and it ran great minus the carb needing work. That should be your problem so try it. Good luck!!!
