Local group sweeps Truck/SUV class!!

Erach 1st in '82 Brat (not me, my son Eric)

Shawn from Rallitek 2nd in Attack Baja

qman 3rd in Attack Brat

84soob 4th in '84 Brat

(strange, 3 out of 4 in the top finishers were painted black; I wonder if I should paint my blue brat).

Yours truly somewhere in the back of the pack; just can't keep up with the young bucs, but I still had a ball. The course laid out by Paul Eklund was great.....long and lots of sweeping turns.....it did favor power if you knew what to do with it, but driver skill worked too if you didn't. I know there were lots of others there XSNRG and Zap and mudrat and flowmastered, and bajavwsubnut and superallyvovo and others; I just don't remember how they fared (short term memory is the 2nd thing to go, you know).

Check out http://www.pdxsports.com/photos/showindex.asp?folder=200405_rallyx for pics. See *_8942 for qman at speed on 2nd page (is there air under that right front wheel?). I think it's Matt in *_8770 on page one in Jason's wagon. Is that Shawn in the Rallitek Attack Baja (*_8821 on page 2)? Look into the background of *_8580 and you'll see qman's motor home and the some of the Subaru group that aren't running at that time.

Mudrat got 1st place in his turbo sedan in Open class

I dunno what I got, my throttle cable broke on the first run so I had to fix it, then got a re-run then 2 more... nice dry track for me, but with no ability to floor it my times kinda sucked (at least compared to John, he was running 4-5 seconds faster than me per lap)

Not surprised mudrat won open; he looked very fast going by my worker station; one of the few who didn't take out the two cones that half the field did until the course dried out a bit.

I Still can't believe I won Open.......

My car had Many little Issues

First

I had No power Steering, as The Rack has a Bad leak, So I ran with it Dry...

Second

I Had stuck my Recaro Seat in the day Before, And Forgot to Weld in the Bracketry on the driver side, So right off the start gate I was sitting sideways...

Third.....When I got to the Meet, I went to stick My Mud tires on, and Discovered the Bolt Holding the Pivot point for driverside Rear swing arm was Wrong and Ghetto from the Previous Owner, Decided to run it as is, and on my final Run a 1/3 of the way into the Coarse, I lost that Bolt completely, so The swing arm was flopping madly around all out of Whack.....Causing my Steering wheel adjustment bar to loosen, and allow steeering wheel to float up and Down in full travel mode.....

All this on the last Lap made me think, I had lost all chances of even placing, Cause the steering floating, caused me to hit 2 cones.....

Times for the 3 runs were a 1.42.?? for first run with 4 cones hit

1.32.16 No cones on second

1.32.00 on last with issues and 2 cones......

My car is Nowhere Near being Dialed in yet.......

Wait till I get it All fixed up propper, and Right....... :burnout:

Later, All..........John

Good for you John! You too EricRach! Matt handled Jason's wagon like a pro too. The USMB has a pretty sweet turn-out these days!!

The sun came out just after my first lap in the open field. I'm pretty sure that's what put me out of it. My second and third were 1:34 and 1:31, not too shabby.

I wish that Baha Turbo was mine so I could drive it to win. Being first out after the water truck went around twice didn't make for a very quick first run either. I know if I break it, he'd never let me run it again. I got a good thing going, he lets me drive his 285hp 2000 RS on the street too. (as maniacal as I'll dare as he's yelling "PUNCH IT" around corners)

The big highlight being Ami taking a chomp out of some guy's arm. Felt bad for him, but sheesh, you gotta watch where you're going or you might step on a sleeping 75 lb pit bull tied to the back of my impreza. . .

:banghead: Doh!

Yep it was a blast next time I am going to adjust the suspention to half way or even all the way up after seeing that pic with matt driving my wagon. And I got 11th but the prod/class was tightly packed as it was from the place I was at and 1st or 2nd place. I might even run our new OBS next time (we picked it up the day before the rallyX with 52 miles on the clock woohoo!
