Odd question re problem with brand new Forester

Recommended Posts

So here's my problem. Bought a brand-new 2016 Forester and it's swell and all. Only it won't play my iPod through the stereo system. Have tried multiple iPods (rebooted, taken back to factory settings and reset), different USB cords, etc. What happens is the music plays fine for anywhere from 10 to 20 minutes, then the iPod shuts down and console stops recognizing the USB port. Took into the dealer and the service department said they were able to get their device, an iPhone, to play just fine.So they said the problem is mine and nothing can be done to fix.

May not seem like a huge deal, BUT the only two things I really want out of a car is the ability to drive in the snow and listen to my music. (Which I don't store on iPhone.)

Anyone else run into a similar problem, per chance? Any proposed solutions, or suggestions I can take back to the dealer?

Thanks

PS-Fwiw, iPod plays just find using the auxiliary cord/setting, though the sound quality is greatly inferior

Thanks for getting back. The iPods (I tried different ones) are anywhere from 6 months to 3 years old. But as I'd mentioned, I rebooted them by taking back to factory setting, thus loading any new software.

And since I posted earlier, I tried an experiment: Subaru sent me home with a loaner, another Forester, as I had some work (switching out cloth for leather seats) done. So I took my iPod out to the loaner, plugged in and it did just what happened with my new car: Played fine for about half hour, 45 minutes, then locked up and froze iPod.

So I guess this is a Subaru-wide incompatibility problem and not just my new car.

C'est la guerre
