subaru forever Posted January 1, 2016 Author Share Posted January 1, 2016 the bad cluster and new one.seem to work for 97, the 99 cluster is different front and back.the title says and vin shows 99 .how did the old cluster work if the car is a 99 ? i am all confused? johnceggleston Posted January 1, 2016 Share Posted January 1, 2016 (edited) remind be of your problem, and what you have tried up to now. 99 is a one one year speedo. and it has a known failure issue. usually corrected with an improved ground wire on the circuit board. i do not know about the rest of the instrument panel. subaru forever Posted January 1, 2016 Author Share Posted January 1, 2016 checked all fuses.relays.what i did notice when taking out old one a small strip of then like aluminm foil.the strange thing is the back of cluster where it gets pluged into.the plug makes no contact with metal.like it just sets in there.so maybe a ground wire put on?and where should i attach it to on cluster Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
