rustfarmer
Just bought a 1998 Forester and downloaded a service manual, but it only shows the SOHC engine while mine is the DOHC. The manual also has no real index and is very hard to use. Simple things such as how to remove the air cleaner top are not included and torque specs for the DOHC engine are not included. Does this forum has FSM links or downloads? I can't seem to find listings for Chilton or Haynes manuals for this car, even though they say they are for 1998 to 2002, they only show the SOHC engines. What am I missing?

rustfarmer
Thanks to gbhrps. This is exactly what I needed. Is there a place I can buy the printed version?
gbhrps
rustfarmer, Yup! Pay Subaru about $600 for a copy, or download the file in PDF form on a flash drive, and take it to a local copy center and have them print it out double sided. Myself, I downloaded the file for my 2012 OBW (took about 10 minutes) and keep it on the computer. Then I just print off the pages I need as I need them. rustfarmer
Thanks again. I had not noticed the pdf versions, they work much better.
Rooster2
rustfarmer, Try this link and see what the Forester manual for your year gives you. Directory /Auto/Japan/Subaru/ Link seems to be infested with some semi-porn weight loss ad. Difficult to view the Directory.
somick
Click on any of the links and it will eventually take you to the index. It works. Sam
