newschamp
My 1979 DL Wagon's diagnosis is a bad crankshaft. My mechanic can't find engine parts for a rebuild. Brown exterior, brown plaid interior, with ripped-up driver's seat. Pretty stock, except for custom canoe rack on top. Your counsel/offers please: 1) Keep looking for rebuild parts 2) Swap the engine 3) Bail A. part it out B. sell the car complete. Price range? Any interest? Skylar
I'd swap in another engine if I were you. Or if you can even find one available in your area. If you were in WA I'd probably be offering you some $$$

mrtoni
I might be interested in Reno. My body's shot and engine needs resell but would buy whole if body straight and interior good. Matt
AdventureSubaru
Find a good used block. Put up a wanted ad here and search craigslist across the country. I shipped an EJ25 short block from CA to Montana for $90 and en EJ25 is considerably heavier than an EA71. Folks have also shipped them by greyhound bus pretty cheap. Stick with it. These are getting rare.

idosubaru
how long have you driven it and are you likely to keep driving it? if yes - then an engine swap makes more sense.
Subieguy
I paid $25 to ship a EA-71 strapped to a pallet. That was about 8 years ago though.

I would put a EA82 with a dual range cheap and rather easy (figuratively speaking) And I have the pieces on the shelf. If you sell post some photos of the good, bad, and ugly and the community will try to help you, or rob you Mostly help I am just speculating at this point.
