Looking for a mechanic who can do the ej22t swap in an 85 brat in North Carolina

Recommended Posts

I have a 1985 brat which i bought in mid swap.  I have posted the 1985 Subaru Brat Project on here in the for sale section but I've decided to move ahead with it if I can find someone competent. It is the EJ22T with Forged internals from a 1994 Subaru Legacy Touring wagon.

Any recommendations in NC or VA would be appreciated.  I'm in Winston-Salem.  Thanks.

Just a question, but does that EJ22T have DOHC heads, ARP head studs, and EJ25D intake manifold with STi injectors and come out of a grey 94 automatic wagon? I used to live in NC (J-ville) and built a EJ22T with forged internals and DOHC heads with EJ25D intake manifold for a guy that had a 94 Legacy wagon. He never completed the build (tuning) and sold it to another friend that had a RHD Impreza L with a JDM EJ20K (which I also installed). He bought the car with the intention of scrapping it and reselling the engine. It was a beautiful engine.

Anyway, just wondering if that is the engine I built since at the time when I built this one, it was one of only a few in NC.

Nice, I was wondering why it was so clean for a east coast car. Yeah, it I were there I would very much like to  help.

I honestly haven't been there is so long, I cant even recommend someone to help, but good luck! I do know there are companies like SJR and Anderson design and Fabrication that can help with the wiring harness as well as the adapter plate and flywheel.

The rest of the install is pretty straight forward from what I gather. You might run into some issues with the cross member and the uppipe for the turbo. That's about all I can think of.
