97 Outback Rear Sway Bar Replacement Companies

Recommended Posts

I have a 97 Subaru Legacy outback 2.5 liter. I was wondering if anyone knows of any companies that sell any aftermarket rear sway bars that will tighten up the rump roast end a little bit around turns. I have had some people post different links to rallitek and whiteline but I just emailed them both yesterday and neither of them make a rear sway bar for the back only the front tower which I'm not really needing to keep the hatch from wanting to roll as much. Any help is appreciated.

Slight mod and you can use the bar for an Impreza/ WRX and that opens up a lot of options. I don't think anyone currently makes anything for the 1990-1999 Legacy chassis. 2000+ is different in the rear, I'm not sure if it will work on the older car but I'd guess not without mod

Use one from an Impreza.

There's a brace on the spare tire well that you just have to hammer/cut a section out of and the Impreza bar will fit. If you upgrade the rear bar, be sure to upgrade the shrimpy mount brackets as well. They bend.

The only issue you'll have is just doing the rear.

The OB has an 18mm in rear and IIRC a 20mm in the front.

If you do go to just a 19, you'll still have slight understeer, flatter cornering and basic controllability.

A 20 rear will have neutral handling and can go into oversteer w/o warning. Be prepared. Larger will be instant oversteer.

If you can handle it fine, if not, don't.

O.
