SUBARU3
Can anyone tell me how the power supply to the sunroof motor is supplied? Can't find a fuse, and or relay. Rear motor is not working to slide the roof back. The front motor that tips it up/down is working. Lost and manuals are worthless! john in KY
If your 91 is anything like a 95, power originates at one of the slow burn fuses in the underwood fuse pane. Thinking #1. Then down to a relay under the instrument panel, just behind that kick panel under the steering wheel. This relay services both the sunroof and the power windows. Since you didn't mention the windows not working, circuit to the under dash relay is good. Power then flows up to the overhead console. The switch in the overhead may be bad. That switch can be unplugged. Has a very short harness. But my guess is the sunroof has a broken cable or stripped gear or whatever is used to make it move. I'll try to find and paste a wiring diagram someone gave me when I had a sunroof problem. Fuse 15 also in the circuit. Found that diagram but would not paste. gbhrps
subaru3, There is only ONE sunroof motor that operates both the tip up mode and the slide back mode. Since your tip up mode works, then your issue with the sunroof not sliding back, has to be either the fault of the switch, the sunroof computer, or the mechanism that slides the sunroof rearward. If, after testing, the switch and the computer turn out to be fine, you'll have to drop the headliner out of the car, and then pull the entire sunroof assembly out to fix it on a work bench. This isn't hard, but it is time consuming. Been there, done that, on a dual sunroofed 2004 OBW LTD, with first class results. Good Luck!
SUBARU3
Couple notes: ** Yes, the power windows are operational. ** I "thought" there were 2 motors....one is in the back I know and then one to tip the glass up and down. ** This sunroof is completely different from my 1995 Legacy...that car does have 1 motor and it's up front. ** Fuses are checked and good. Will look at the switch. What relay exactly? Thanks! Todd
