gsac132
I have a 99 Subaru Forester and I've noticed a squealing noise from the tank. I am sure it's the fuel pump, my question is about replacement should I get a Subaru pump or are aftermarket pumps ok. How difficult is taking the tank down? And is there anything I should know before taking on the repair myself?
1 Lucky Texan
shouldn't need to take the tank down. On my Outback, there is access under the rear seat. Look for a youtube video for your car - might find a couple if you're lucky. My impression from lots of reading is, Soob pumps are generally robust and a unit from a wreck should be considered. I think Airtex and Bosch have aftermarket units. Maybe someone else will have some experienced advice.
nipper
No need to drop the tank, its all done from inside the car. Get a used pump or new one, but JUST THE PUMP. No need to replace the entire assembly.
