Impreza818
Let me start off by saying that I ALWAYS wear my seatbelt when I drive. Does anybody have any idea if there is a way to disable/mute the speaker for the seat belt chime and if so where would it be located and what would it look like? I made the mistake of trying to stop the seat belt chime on my own without doing any legitimate research, I regret it but definitely learned a huge lesson. I asked the dealership and they said there wasn't anything they could do so I went to the local auto-zone and the guy told me to try cutting the wire running directly out of the driver side buckle so I did and it worked. I did the same to the passenger side and now the chime does not stop unless I am parked and the passenger airbag light is on. As any of you can imagine this is extremely irritating and potential hazardous because I don't know if I somehow deactivated the airbag or if its a malfunction due to the wire cutting, although I don't know why they airbag wire would be connected to the seat belt... My options are limited and the dealership is an absolute last resort, it's too expensive. They already charged me for inspection and concluded that they would need to replace the seat belt which would cost $200+ no guarantee the sound would stop, I cannot spend that type of money without a guarantee. The local mechanic took out a fuse and the sound stopped however the transmission wouldn't change gears. I tried the 15/20 click method after disconnecting the wires and it didn't work. Any advice or tips are greatly appreciated thank you.
Fairtax4me
Airbag system monitors the passenger seat belt for occupancy detection. Where did you cut the wire? Too far up to solder it back together?
Impreza818
I cut the wires right where they connect to the seatbelt buckle, I took it to a mechanic to hopefully have him deactivate the speaker the chime is coming from but with no luck, any advice or help is greatly appreciated.
