franbev
My '85 BRAT was sold new in California. Is it the same as those sold new elsewhere? I recall that many cars in the 80's had California versions and 49 state versions to meet California's stricter emission standards. Stuff like different carburetors and such. Did Subaru do such a thing?

franbev
If any of those need replacement are they available? Can a 49 state part be interchanged?
skishop69
There a still a few aftermarket direct fit CATs, the O2 is available and the ECU can be rebuilt. There are still two companies willing to work with the old Subie stuff. I got one for my XT GL10 a few years back. franbev
Thanks Subaru fans, our BRAT runs fine now but looking ahead to when my daughter gets it I'd like to be prepared.
