EA82Turbo
I did some research on doing this swap and there was no way a EJ20 would fit in the 82 Leone 4 door. In the end I put in a EA82T, goes OK but doesn't even get close to the WRX or Legacy turbo. Is the EJ22 smaller than EJ20? Is the EJ22 single over head cam? Which car did the EJ22 come out in? Did you use standard loom and computer? Has anyone put a turbo on a EJ22?

Has anyone put a turbo on a EJ22? Narrower, yes as some are SOHC, some are DOHC and as wide as an EJ20. Depends on the model and year. Early Liberties/Legacies had SOHCs. Some nutter must have turbo'd one. Good luck.
ballitch
i belive all SOHC EJ22's are N/A and the turbo'd ones are DOHC, but dont quote me on it. yes a WRX motor will fit in a 82 suby, its just like a 1/4'' formt he frame rails is all, ask austin he did it, suby motors are all about the same width, and depth, except for the pushrod EA81's are a little narrower. people have put turbo's on N/A EJ22's before, dont know what boost they run, but it cant be too much, internals arent forged, they're just cast aluminum. and the motor is open-deck design, not like the wrx motor or sti motors are. ~Josh~
offroadsubaruguy
all ej22's are sohc, even the turbos..... the only dohc's are the phase 1 2.5's, the wrx, sti, and the eg33.... im not sure but the 3.0 might be dohc as well
