Brokenneckj
Yo Fellow Subaru Lovers! Had to get a new alternator from Autozone. Ordered the Identical part number as removed from the 88 GL-10 Turbo. The New unit appears to be larger and will not tighten to produce tension. Just to the right of the Lower mounting bolt it seems to be rubbing the Ac Compressor Mount. Anyone else had this issue when attempting to reinstall a OEM Replacement Alternator. I am using the same belt and also have swapped to the old pulley to see if that was the issue. Starting to think maybe the Chassis of the alternator was redesigned..... maybe its wider.... Old Unit was returned for the 11.00 core. If there is anything I am missing or you need hit me up. DaveT
I have alternators from 86 to 93. One from a turbo. No difference I've ever noticed, other than one or 2 had a 2 groove pulley. Maybe post a picture?
Brokenneckj
when uploading I get an error message.
john in KY
You almost always can find a new belt slightly smaller than the one you now have.
Brokenneckj
Solved!! The previous part number is NO Longer valid.14585 now has larger chassis (+1/8"). Had to order alt again. And yes my 88 gl10 awd has inboard alternator and outboard (far right) ac compressor bracket.
DaveT
One of my loyales had that setup, with the alternator and ac swapped.
