81MV
Hi guys After 3 years outside on a farm - after failing to gain its annual certificate of roadworthiness in 2009 - and losing its front wings to someone else's BRAT restoration project, then a further 3 1/2 years in my lock-up, then a false start at one "restorer" (I had to get the car back from the landlord after he disappeared without paying the rent), my GLF project is finally taking shape - photos taken at the bodyshop last weekend: Problem is, to get the rear glass out prior to the re-paint, the windscreen guy had to cut out the rear screen rubber, thereby destroying it :-( I don't have a replacement, and I've tried ordering twice from Europe, only to be emailed a week later "here's a refund - no longer stocked". Does anyone have one they can sell me or know where I might get one? Really needs to be new old stock in A1 condition; the part number is 7650 61070, description "WSTRIP (GLASS)". According to my Subaru dealer, they are no longer available from Japan. I'm in the UK but will of course pay shipping etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks Owain
jbhughes
Sorry but I have not dealt with that problem. I have had other hard to find parts problem but not that one. Hopefully someone will come by soon with an answer. Mine just got out of shops for being rebuilt and such. I would think a custom window's person could have an answer. dfoyl
Silly question, but is the hatch rubber the same as a wagon ? we don't have hatches here (a GLF would only be a MY coupe as far as I know), so I have zero experience in what is unique and what is common... If it's a wagon, I think a guy in Queensland could supply a new one...
81MV
Hi All Bumping this one as I've just had my third order (with different suppliers) for a replacement rear screen rubber cancelled... why do online parts suppliers (1) list parts as though they're in stock, (2) take your money (3) wait 2 weeks+ (4) then tell you it's not available after all and refund your money? Grrr!!! So, can anyone find me a new old stock 7650 61070, "WSTRIP (GLASS)". It is different to the Wagon item, which has a different part number. The bodyshop can't put the rear glass back in without it - help!!! Thank you :-)

81MV
Thanks dfoyl I've just had a US dealer (Heritage Subaru of Owings Mills) refund my money as they apparently can't source one in the US, so I'll keep my fingers crossed!
Bantum
Only options now would be to find a good second hand set, or get them remanufactured from somewhere in Asia ... ( there's a thread on here somewhere with details of the procedure, just got to find it again ) Add : http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/158865-feeler-ea81-reproduction-rubber-windshield-gaskets/?hl=%2Bwindow+%2Bseals&do=findComment&comment=1326247 Ciao, Bantum ... dfoyl
Denied. Subaru dealership in Japan confirms none in factory and none in any dealership in their network. New Zealand might be a possibility if you can find a contact there. Otherwise 2nd hand is likely your only choice...
81MV
Man, that's a real shame - but I really appreciate you taking the time to network your contacts, dfoyl. Guess I'll try New Zealand!
