mcbrat
5 speed conversion for 82 brat okay, trans is in place with the fresh mounts. I put in a new ea81 clutch cable (same length as old one) and it appears to be too short! the trans is a '89 D/R. thoughts?
mcbrat
bump. edited title once I got the motor in, and pressure plate torqued down all the way, the ea81 cable was fine, (plus the ea82 has a totally different mounting system under the dash..... Adam N.D.J.
I'm using the Brats stock clutch cable for my 5spd, works just fine. How short are you talking? Like a fraction of an inch, or inches? Cause my motor and tranny sit back about 1.125 inches from stock, but I also have like another 3 inches of slack in the cable too. Don't see how it would be too short either, cause the fork actually sit further to the right on the 5spd than the 4spd. Hmm, thought for a minute, after re-reading yours and my post, thought you might be talking about the actual cable, and not the casing, warranting an engagment problem. Again, I have no problems, I actually have my adjuster a little below center, and it pulls just fine. And I don't think my pressure plate is any different from an EA82's. Maybe there is something wrong with the fork, or the mount.
ThreeEyedBandit
My 82' has the stock 4sp. D/R clutch cable running the 5sp. D/R transmissions clutch and has a goo amount of slop in it. Maybe it is hanging up on something? I know at first I had it routed stupidly and it didnt reach. Matt
