loyale1993
Looks like a new manifold gasket is in order. I noticed coolant on the back right side of the head. I cleaned the area and ran the engine. Using a ultraviolet light I watched the coolant seep from the manifold. Thank God it wasn't head gasket! Any pointers on doing this job? Seems like a PIA. DaveT
Get OEM gaskets only. Run the engine to normal operating temperature. Carefully loosen the 6 bolt ASAP while hot. Also the EGR pipe. Best to have a flare nut wrench for those. Rock them back and forth, gradually progressing. Do not force them. IF you are very careful, you can feel the difference between the bolt twisting springiness before it starts to yield. Sometimes tapping downward on the heads can help loosen them, but don't hit so hard they begin to deform. That's the hard part. Especially with that much crud / corrosion build up. You'll need to use wet / dry sandpaper to recondition the mating surfaces. Once those items are loose, you can let it cool off before removing the coolant lines, etc.Unbolt the AC compressor and swing it out of the way, the hoses are long enough. ferp420
Use a hammer and a punch and give the bolts a good tapperoo on the head and heat them up alittle and use some good penitrating oil the coolnt causes alittle carosion on the inside of the bolt holes and the like to snap off its usaly a easy fix after the manifold is off the treads dont carode as bad and theres usaly enuff of the bolt sticking out to grab with vicegrips a little bit of play time and they come right out then use the punch to drive whats left of the bolt out of the manifold its a very easy job if the bolts dont snap and not realy a big deal if they do
loyale1993
Thanks! I'm glad I posted on here asking for advice. Hopefully I don't break any of the bolts off.
