Numbchux
It's approaching time to renew my website hosting, and I'm tempted to let it go. I've left it up for reference, and for many of the files I've hosted there, but most of it's original purpose is defunct. As much as I don't want to be the cause of dead links, that hosting is not cheap. I think the EA2EJ file is posted in many places on the internet by now. Most of the FSMs and XT parts catalogs are as well, I think.
Bantum
Um - Which web site would that be ?Add : Sorry I've not seen / heard of it before & would like to know more ... Ciao, Bantum ... Edited September 23, 2016 by Bantum
idosubaru
I used it last week - but that's coincidence, first time in a few years. I have it all on at least two old laptops and numerous back-ups and just downloaded it today to my new laptop, thanks for the heads up Chux. Makes sense to close it to me. idosubaru
http://www.numbchuxconversions.com/Files/ the gear ratio chart i assume it posted somewhere here?
iceageg
I used it to download that very document last week. I already have it somewhere but it was easier to find again here than in the dark recesses of my external storage drive.
silverhelme
I still visit on occasion if I can't locate my swap manual or if I am on someone else's computer showing them information. You were one of my main sources on information when I did my Brat swap.
DaveT
How much longer will if be up? What's the url? If there is stuff I could use, I'd be inclined to download it.
Numbchux
www.Numbchuxconversions.com But most of the information is in here. http://www.numbchuxconversions.com/Files/ I guess it's hard to judge, as I have a lot of direct download links posted throughout the site, which would be very easy not to notice what the source was. But if you guys notice a link to something on my site that's maybe useful, maybe we can re-post as an attachment or something. My current renewal date is December 5th. I'm looking to see if BlueHost will let me downgrade to their super basic plan, which would cut the price down a bit (I can Upgrade instantly online, but the cheaper plans are listed as "unavailable"), but no guarantees. Logan K
what is the renewal cost? Maybe some of us could chip in via paypal? I think its a good very resource to have that EJ swap guide on the web.

Bantum
Just had a quick look & would say its a keeper, just need to find a price range that's right for you. How much are you looking at ? One thought was - Could you turn it into a wiki ? ( the free kind ) Don't know if that helps but ... :/ Ciao, Bantum ...
Numbchux
It looks like my next bill will be $166.80. That does last for 2 years, though. Also, apparently that is the cheapest plan they offer. I currently do not have internet at home in an effort to save money. So I'm not going to be updating the visual site in the near future, it was a pain when I could do it at home....
idosubaru
you've served a ton of people over the years, you can feel great whatever you choose. that you're considering it says to me, move on. always good to clean house every now and again. "good is the enemy of great" they say. too bad it's not easy to migrate to free apps.

jread
Wow 160 bucks! I'm sure people will live without. Is it not something you can plop onto a free WordPress?
CaptainDub
I just recently got a 94 Loyale with a carbed 86 EA82 in it so some of the info will be useful for me in the future so I just downloaded the whole site using HTTrack. It makes the site viewable offline. There are other whole website downloaders but HTTrack is the first I came accross and it worked great.
idosubaru
For $10/month, cheaper than you're paying now, you can get 1 Terrabye of online cloud based storage and put the entire website dump into a public folder. If the backup, photo uploading, and cloud based storage is helpful to you, as it is many people - might be a win-win. WordPress? Maybe - why don't you dowload the files and try it? Migrations usually take inordinate time, though it is relatively a simple website. That's a good starting point - another simple and free option might look something like this - do a complete website dump and store it on dropbox (or other free cloud based storage app) account). this would only work if the file size is small enough for the free account size (usually 2 GB i think) and he's not already using those apps. Numbchux
I'm paying about $6.50 a month, plus a small registration fee. The $166.80 gets me 2 years. My biggest concern about migrating it to anything else, is the amount of direct links (primarily here) to files on the site which would then be dead. I think all of that stuff is readily available elsewhere (certainly EA2EJ and all the FSMs) and I could care less about the graphical "homepage" and such, as that stuff has been irrelevant for probably 5 years or more. idosubaru
oh yeah right, that. how about searching USMB for numbchuxconversions and then placing a link to a freely hosted version as outlined above? i got 9 hits with a quick search/no effort - is it possible to capture most of them that way? or would loosing the pic's/time line in a thread throw it all out fo whack? https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=numbchuxconversions.com+site:http:%2F%2Fwww.ultimatesubaru.org Edited September 27, 2016 by grossgary
sparkyboy
Your ea2ej write up is the best thing I have ever found on the internet! Could not have done my swap without it, I would not have even considered it. I want to personally thank you for the excellent information that you give lots of soob guys for free. As far as the website goes, I'll chip in for sure! But if you would rather spend the money on something else, cool! There has got to be to just post each page here and make it a sticky, and then maybe delete the thread with the link to your site, right?

soobenthusiast
From what I remember when I had Bluehost, they allow many sites on one account (They might have even said it was unlimited?). Perhaps we can find someone else who's hosting it can piggyback on? I would offer, but also recently let my Bluehost site/hosting die..
