Bad 2003 2.5 Subaru outback left head with EGR

Does anyone know which heads from other years or models are compatible with this motor?

I think impreza's/foresters even later will work but i'm unsure when they change.

 

1999 SOHC EJ25's (forester, impreza RS) will also work if they have EGR

You can also drill and tap the EGR hole in a NON EGR head.

I may have to drill and tap.  It is hard to find one with an EGR

Anybody have the spec's on the drill and tap threads?

I don't have a thread but I've done it a few times. The location boss is already there. Center punch it and drill it out. I can get drill bit sizes and tap sizes tomorrow if I remember.

 

When looking around for this, remember, this is the larger EGR pipe vs. the smaller one from the earlier EJ25D.

Per wtdash      You see THIS? I'd see if it'd work on your newer model. Saves a lot of work.

 

 

Per 86bratman     The workaround will work, I've done it before. But if you want to make it oem the thread is m20x1.5 for the phase 2 egr bung.

The posted workaround works, but there is a simpler way.

Cut the egr tube in half, rotate it 90 deg. facing pass side.
Take the iac hose and the cut egr to auto store and get a foot of the size that fits it.
There is another fitting that will go over it that will make a tight fit into the iac hose.(not sure of size)
If you don't have another iac hose around get a foot of 3/4" ID hose of any type.
Get a 3/4" T barb. Plastic is fine
Hose clamps is all else you need.
Lay it out as you install it so that you cut the iac hose in the right places.
Will post pics as soon as I get to the car that the mod is on.
