Shawn81
Am experiencing a strange occurrence in my OB. Just bought it do don't know a lot about it. When shifting the auto trans into sport mode the horn sounds every time I upshift. Also when setting the cruise, mounted on the side of the steering wheel, it too beeps the horn and sets the tpms light flashing. Occasionally when setting the cruise the sport gears show up on the dash even though it's not in sport mode. Any suggestions on this stuff would be greatly appreciated n
Fairtax4me
Does it have paddle shifters on the wheel? Sounds like the clock spring behind the steering wheel is damaged. Could be that or a poor ground connection somewhere in the dash.
Shawn81
No, it doesn't have paddle shifters. I can't figure out the correlation between the center console shifting, the cruise control and the horn. I find it almost humorous that the horn beeps like that but in reality am becoming pretty frustrated. Thanks for your response
Fairtax4me
Yeah that's a little odd for sure. On some newer cars the instrument cluster serves as a communication hub between the other control modules in the car, but I don't know if Subaru did that in 07. Is there any kind of aftermarket security or remote start system on the car?
Shawn81
No there isn't just the stock security. I'm going to tinker with it some more today and hopefully figure something out. Thanks again
Fairtax4me
I'd start by checking any grounds in the area of the instrument cluster and center console/center dash. Bad ground causing a back feed of voltage on other circuits will cause all sorts of weird problems. Subaru generally uses brown for ground wires and there will usually be 3-4 of them or possibly more at each ground point.
