Pnwea81berk
So i have a lifted subaru and i tend to blow them up. I took that in mind when I lifted it. But is there bullet proof one that can stand the abuse. I'd love to later on and go soild axle swap it. idosubaru
are you blowing OEM axles or aftermarkets? which joint is blowing, front/rear/inner/outer? OEM > aftermarket. try a used OEM axle if you haven't yet or only blown one OEM axle (maybe it was previously abused) i've installed new aftermarket axles that had no issues on a different subaru in lifted Subaru's and they clicked and clattered. installed them back in a non-lifted Subaru and they worked fine. Marshall of FWE in Denver Colorado builds good axles.
Pnwea81berk
It was the stock ones when I bought the car. Turns out no one carries the rear cv axles and you can't get even subaru parts. I blew up right there on the hub rear driver. I've got an 85 gl with same gearing. Will those work with mine? I'm gonna call that guy tomorrow to see what he could do. Scott in Bellingham
Your model ea81 has weak cups they are shorter and weaker then the ea82 style, you can make a hybrid axle with the ea82 ends and the ea81 shafts, that's if the spline counts the same, is it the rear cups that split ? Pnwea81berk
Yeah the cup split apart. And ill see if i can make a hybrid. I've got matching rear ends ill look to see if the spline counts it same on the ends. Isnt it great subarus like legos.
Just4Fun
This looks like an expensive option. http://www.rcvperformance.com/custom-axles.aspx
Numbchux
Sounds like you need to lower the diff to lessen the angles on the axles.
