PMB
I just purchased a 2001 Outback. I was given a metal screen that I was told separates the back area from the front seat. I assume it is to keep animals from crossing over or items from flying into the front when the car comes to a sudden stop. I can not figure out or find out how it mounts in the car. Help would be appreciated.
Rooster2
My 98 OBW came with one of those metal security bar.screen system. I never used it, but think it is to keep animals back there, so they cannot roam around in the car. I don't remember the particulars, but seem to recall that the unit gets wedged in against the back seat, and is held in place with brackets with threaded bolts that you thread down to tighten up the wedge effect. Maybe there is a u-tube video on how to install. U-tube has videos for most everything.
gbhrps
PMB, Check for any stickers on the screen assembly that can give you a name of the manufacturer, then look it up on Google for the owner's manual. It is possible that it may even be a Subaru accessory for that generation of subie vehicles, If that's the case, a search of accessories for that model year should yield the manual on Subaru of America's website. If that doesn't get results, just searching online for car pet barriers should find a vendor with pictures/diagrams showing the same one you have, and eventually the owner's installation manual for it. Good Luck!
