otonio
Can I swap out my Outback driver seat for a Forester (or other model) driver seat? I have a 2008 Outback. I've only had it about 2 yrs. The driver seat is AWFUL and uncomfortable, not because its old but because the bottom seat cushion is too short for my legs and causes my right leg to get sore, even on short trips. I have a memory foam aftermarket cushion but its not cutting it.
gbhrps
otonio, If the OutBack seat is too short, I'll bet the Forester seat will be as well. Same company making the seats for both models. Your best bet is to find an aftermarket seat that suits you, and then adapt it to fit the OutBack seating frame assembly. Keep in mind the seat heater may be a no go for transferring to the new seat, but you'll have to find a way to wire in the pressure switch for the seat bottom that arms the air bags and disengages the seat belt alarm. Good Luck!
wtdash
Hi Welcome to the USMB. As noted, you'll be limited to a Subaru seat. Your '08 is from the 3rd Generation of Outbacks - 2005-2009 - so those years will all bolt in, but may not all be compatible w/your '08 electronics. The Legacy models - GT, too - should also bolt in. If you're lucky, a Legacy GT Spec B seat may be the best of the bunch - hard to find? And $$. You don't mention the TRIM line of your '08. Here's what's on Cars101.com - based on engine. Find a version below that may have a different seat: 2.5L 4 cylinder Outback (replaces Outback Basic) Outback 2.5i Outback 2.5i LL Bean with Navigation, with VDC starting July 07 Outback 2.5i Limited, with VDC starting July 07 Outback 2.5i Limited LL Bean with Navigation, with VDC starting July 07 2.5L 4 cylinder turbo XT Limited with VDC XT Limited with VDC and Navigation 3.0L 6 cylinder Outback 3.0R LL Bean with Navigation and VDC Edited January 7, 2017 by wtdash
lmdew
If you seat has airbags built in the Yards may not sell the seats. I know the You Pull and Pay in Colorado Springs, CO will not sell seats with airbags in them anymore, even if you are not going to use the airbags in the car you are bolting the seats into.
