alpop
'99 Legacy AWD. If I have four tires and two are a little more worn than the other two (1/32nd inch), is it best to put them on the front or back? Seems like I remember that most of the time power goes to the front, and only goes to the rear when needed? So better tires on the front to even out the wear? Fairtax4me
Yes, better tires on the front. The front tires wear faster since they do the steering. Eventually they will even out.
forester2002s
If the worn tires are already on the front, you may need a front-end alignment.

Subabro
Front tires are responsible for acceleration, braking and steering that's why they normally wear faster.
keith3267
For such a small difference, put the better tires on the front. For vehicles that are not AWD, if you have a large difference, say 4/32" or greater, then the better tire go on the rear for safety reasons, even for FWD vehicles. On a AWD vehicle, any differences greater than 2/32", the tires must be replaced or the better tires shaved down to match.
